Ian Phillips Managing Director Nicholas Phillips Associates
Professional Experience Ian Phillips is Managing Director of Nicholas Phillips Associates since 2004, having joined NPA in 2002. Prior to joining, for two years he was the Manager of the European Chemical Industry Federation’s (CEFIC) relations with the European Parliament, where he was responsible for overseeing the monitoring of the Parliamentary Committees and advising the Industry Sector Groups on lobbying. After graduation from Glasgow University in the Summer of 1997 with an MA (Hons.) in French Language and Literature, he spent three months as an intern with the European-American Business Council in Washington DC before doing an internship (“stage”) at the European Commission in 1998 in the Environment Directorate-General. In 1999, Ian Phillips was appointed Assistant Editor of Euro-Impact, the monthly publication covering the practical impact of the introduction of the Euro on business and industry, before moving to CEFIC in the autumn of that year.
Among other activities, Ian Phillips gives classes at the EIPAL (link) institute on understanding and lobbying the European Parliament. Ian is also a Member of the Committee of the Australian Society in Brussels.
Personal His interests include Rugby Football, skiing, scuba diving and the theatre (He acted in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 1997). He is a European Union Citizen (British National) born in London in 1972. He is married and lives in Brussels.
